Uprising [Mist Opening Post] Empty
PostSubject: Uprising [Mist Opening Post]   Uprising [Mist Opening Post] Icon_minitimeSat Jul 18, 2020 5:13 pm

It all started today, a path that Suzume Yuki had been following since graduation finally converged upon her destination. The girl was meant to be tasked with a new mission from her handler, to quell some form of riot amongst the slums of the village. A food shortage had swept the lower caste of the city and had caused anger and the attack of many of the wealthy merchants that tended to profit of such ordeals. Normally, this would mean she was tasked with making an example of the strongest among them to get the others to simply give in. That would not be happening today though.

The normal stinging of the cursed brand along her back was gone now, with some tinkering it had been completely nullified and thus the shackles of the young Yuki’s tormentors could no longer save them. She was being led through the underbelly of Kirigakure, many forgotten passages and secret tunnels allowed the secret police unlimited access just about anywhere in the village. It was a potent weapon, giving those in power a sense of omnipresence, with the ability to be anywhere are any time. Unfortunately, as hard as they might try to prevent anyone else figuring out these tunnels, Suzume had learned more than enough to get exactly where she needed to go.

“Are you listening? Answer me!” An older jounin had been leading the girl through these tunnels, explaining exactly what was expected of her today, but it seemed Suzume had missed a question. The man lashed out, knowing that it would take little more than a single handseal to subdue the scum before him. There was a flash of motion, with the silver glint of a blade passing through flesh and bone like nothing as his hand was promptly removed, only to feel the cold steel pass through his throat to cleanly sever his spine. Unable to move, the jounin crumpled to the ground as his charge stepped past him, taking the torch he carried to let him perish in the darkness.

From that day forth, an outbreak of violence started. Unusually, it was not the poor and unfortunate citizens of the village who had to bear this pain. Rather, the shinobi of the village most openly loyal to the current Mizukage started going missing. A string of assassinations would be the news of the town for the following week. Be it a night patrol being found massacred in the street, or entire squads going missing on routine missions. Terror was the name of the day, and the people of Kirigakure could feel it. Night raids on known troublemakers and an increased amount of brutality towards civilians. Rations were halved, factory quotas were doubled and anyone who spoke out was publicly beaten and taken away for questioning.

Thus, began a true resistance, from the smoldering embers of anger and resentment for the upper class broke forth an inferno that could not be contained. Suzume found allies throughout, many who considered the current administration in dire need of culling. With the young Yuki clansmen at the helm, the plan went forward with a renewed vigour. While she left the command to some of the more senior among their band of renegades, Suzume headed out to hunt. She was far from done if her plan were to succeed.

She set them upon the unsuspecting enemy, any who refused to turn were immediately incapacitated or worse, keeping some of the younger more idealistic of the village alive to be converted after the coup was complete. As the body count rose, the leadership of the village would begin to work towards trying just about anything to quell the rebellion, but trying to catch these traitors was like trying to catch smoke, none would fall until their duty was complete.

Suzume moved through the labyrinthine tunnels below the city to find herself inside a cellar floor of the Seven Swordsman’s headquarters. A fortress like building that acted as a gatehouse for the Mizukage’s palace. She passed silently through the lower floors to find her way to an upper floor that overlooked the central room. In the center sat a sturdy table where the Seven met, in fact they were meeting at that exact moment.

“You can’t be serious; they’re sending one of those expendables off to deal with this? What exactly are we here for if not to bring judgement down upon those murderers?” A large man leans back in his chair, causing it to groan under his bulk.

“Mizukage’s orders… He was real clear on this one. Said he had a plan.” A thin man responded, barely paying attention as he inspected his own blades. “Besides, it is hardly a test of our abilities to cull the lower caste” The man chuckled, happy to let those in the slums just tear each-other apart without having to step in himself.

“Think they’ll go for that? It’ll make us look weak…” One of the few women amongst the Swordsmen sighed. “We can’t just wait, this needs to stop. I haven’t had a proper fight for a long time” She felt a hand on her shoulder as their leader appeared to his team.

“We must wait, something tells me that whoever is behind this will show themselves soon. Once we have a target, I’m sure the Lord Mizukage will direct us to slay the fool.” The woman brushed the old man’s hand off “You would say that, scared of losing that other hand huh? You’re lucky that brat didn’t take your head” The conversation devolved into something of an argument between the seven sat around the table. None were able to come to an agreement.  Which meant they were not paying attention to the shadow that loomed just out of sight.

Suzume could barely contain her contempt as this group of ‘heroes’ spoke about glory and their petty complaints. It was hard to say just how strong this group were anymore; it was hard to say the last time any of them had seen real combat. Needless to say, they needed to be dealt with before the next step. It was unfortunate that the prodigal son hadn’t managed to finish the job during his exodus,

From her perch above, the masked Yuki would leap down to the center of the table. Her arrival shook most from their conversation, despite their lack of combat they seemed to be ready. Scrambling back to draw their various weapons. As she landed though, Suzume had finished a string of handseals and had placed her palm to the table. There was a sudden drop in temperature as a wave of cold expanded outwards. It was over in moments as a black crystalline ice spread over the area. Her victims most likely died instantly, frozen to the cellular level in their final moments. The greatest amongst this village felled in moments. Perhaps a few generation ago the Seven Swordsmen were practically unstoppable as a fighting force, but those that carried those storied weapons now were but shadows of their forbears.

The blades they carried were locked away now, stuck within the ice with their wielders. Perhaps one day she would bestow these weapons upon those more worthy to hold them. For now, it was time to end this fight. There was but a single obstacle in her path.

News of the entirety of the Seven Swordsmen being found frozen in their fortress seemed to be the final straw. The market square of the village was cleared. Normally, the place would be packed with vendors and patrons, all haggling to the best of their abilities. Instead, it was cleared for a more sinister purpose. A number of civilians were lined up in front of the Mizukage, who stood above them proclaiming that the perpetrators of the recent violence had been found. It seemed to be a mixture of the most reviled clans that had been gathered for this show. Ten in total, with each one blindfolded, shackled and gagged awaiting execution.

The village had been gathered to watch, surrounding the area to see justice be brought to these traitors he drew his blade. “Let this show that there will be no mercy to any who would betray our great village” He prepared to strike, settling into a steady stance to ensure a perfect cut for his first victim. The moment he powered ahead however, a spike of glasslike black ice burst from the ground, intercepting the powerful blow.

From the crowed, the masked figure of a member of ANBU strode into view, rapidly forming handseals as further spears erupted from the ground. The Mizukage deftly dodged back, avoiding each one until he found himself on the opposite side of his prisoners, who had been blocked off by a wall of the stuff. “This one even saved us the effort of finding her, how very thoughtful” He chuckled, so sure of his abilities that he motioned for his guard to step back. “If anyone interferes, I will kill them myself. This one is mine”

The figure threw her mask aside, revealing the hatred that burned in her glare as she faced the man who had caused all this torment. It took him a moment, but he soon recognized the girl before him. “You? Number Nine… Of course it was you” The man chuckles as he drew his blade, pointing it at the girl who dare stand in defiance before him. “Death is too good for scum like you. By tomorrow you’ll be a broken husk, and I’ll be sure to keep you around as an example for the others. On the fate of those who dare defy me” The two watched each other carefully, neither making a move.

“You won’t live to see tomorrow, old man.” The girl spat, forming her own weapon out of the same black ice that she had created moments before, a light blade that seemed to suit her lithe form well. “And the Blood Mist will die with you” The Mizukage just chuckled before suddenly bursting forward, sword in hand to rush the girl. Unlike the rest of the village, the Mizukage did not grow soft over time, if anything he was barely past his prime but still leagues above the average shinobi.

What he couldn’t have expected was the ease that Suzume deflected his blow, pivoting to intercept with her frozen blade to immediately counter attack, drawing first blood as the very tip of her ice sword slashed through his robes and set him making space in a quick attempt to form handseals. In the blink of an eye, he expelled jets of water from his mouth directly towards the girl. She dodged the first, which collided with some force into a building directly behind them. Instead of dodging the follow-up blast she rushed it head-on, leaping at the last moment while freezing it in place, practically skating across the frozen beam to flip upon dismounting, sending a number of barely visible ice senbon directly into the surprised Mizukage’s arms.

His offensive had quickly been turned back on him though, as the much younger shinobi took the initiative to begin following every movement, lashing out with frozen blades that seemed to form on whatever she decided to strike with. With his skill using a blade, the Mizukage deflected and countered in swift motions, each attack combining defense with offense to try and catch the girl off guard. But each time they clashed the pair would manage to follow through and riposte.

The combat was heated, with the crowd stepping back in fear of being caught up in the wake of these two juggernaughts. The soldiers still loyal to their leader were shocked to see this upstart had been holding up so well. The wounds were creeping up on both, small cuts, fractured bones and the like. And with a particularly brilliant strike, the Mizukage seemed to get the upper hand. The Yuki stumbled, a look of shock on her face as he went for the kill. As he committed to the strike though her look of shock vanished as she moved to intercept the sword strike with her bare hand.

What should have been the final strike turned around in moments, as the second the edge of his blade touched the girl’s hand it would shatter catastrophically. At this level of power, even the most minor mistake was punished. The crystalline ice blade buried in the Mizukage’s gut brought him to his knees, at least until two more spikes burst from the ground to pierce his shoulders, skewering under his arms to keep him upright and immobilized. Even now the ice began to creep through over his body. He tries to choke out a protest only for Suzume to twist the blade in his stomach causing little more than an excruciating scream.

“Your reign is over, and my village can finally heal” There was a rumbling as a multitude of the black ice columns erupted to envelope and crush the defeated Mizukage. By the time it was done, a monolithic spire had formed, the dark ice stained red in the very center as the only vestige of the man to remain. The girl turned to the people, who stood shocked before her.

“For too long, those in power have neglected and abused this village for everything it was worth. They have taken sons, daughters… mothers and fathers.” She began “But no longer. Today, I, Suzume Yuki will bring this village out of its tainted roots. I will drag it kicking and screaming into the future” She stepped forwards “I advise any who wish to avenge their fallen tyrant step forward now, and I will hasten your journey to serve him in the afterlife” She let the words hang for now, waiting to see if anyone would dare speak up after such a display…

A black cloaked figure stood amongst the assembly of citizens watching the scene. Strands of white hair escaped from the hood's depths "Glad to see she finally did it " Said the figured removing their hood revealing Anaya yuki, A lion weilding white haired Jounin "Hopefully power wont go to her head"Spoke the massive snow whote lion standing next to her. The creature had a vest on with a blue scarf around its neck that pecks from within the main as a headband covers its left eye. "She will be fine...this is a good thing for Suzume."Spoke Amaya watching the crowd as suzume asked for any objectors to come up and face her if they disagree.

Hyo, the young chuunin of the mist had been summoned to the market square to watch the spectacle and keep an eye on the crowd for miscreants who might be up to interrupting the Mizukage. Little did the man know, Hyo was one such miscreant, though not foolish enough to make a scene without backup the spiky haired swordsman watched, waiting for a sign that he was supposed to act.

Hyo had been a convert since not long after he had passed the graduating ceremony bathed in the blood of his best friend. A boy who had been a brother to Hyo during his academy years, had been selected as his opponent for the bloody graduation, and since it was kill or be killed Hyo had no choice but to take his friends life.

After his graduation, he had vocalized his dislike for the system and a strong desire to work to change it, though he had thought himself alone at the time he was overheard, though thankfully not by one of the sneaky loyalists but someone who agreed with him. From then on, to this day he would not only complete the missions assigned to him by the village but would occasionally find an additional mission in the cave he shared with a pack of wolves he held a contract with. Some times it would be an assassination task, others it would be something like an extra part to his other missions that he was not to report. The tasks varied, and the person giving them to him was never known to the spiky haired swordsman, though he figured that was for the best on the chance he got caught.

Back here in the present with an amazing display of ice and swordsmanship a masked Kunoichi slew the previous mizukage, claiming the crown for herself before asking for any challengers to step forth. Though so long as she lived up to her word, she would have Hyo's loyalty, as well as the loyalty of many others who were more than ready for the barbaric ways of the village to end.

290ec563cd064bd85ba0c1e15991b67139ab3777.jpgMiketsu was a trouble-maker in every sense of the word. It was something most would find extremely strange as the teen was born into the Shurajo clan. She should have been satisfied, the clan’s position as the tyrants attack dogs and police force practically guaranteed that she would not suffer like so many others. Even better, she was the daughter of the head clansman, and thus, the position of Chief of Police and clan head was hers to inherit. However, she wasn’t satisfied with the status quo.

They tried to quell her rebellious behavior by making her participate in the bloody graduation despite her clan being exempt due to their high-status. A status they gained by tucking their tails between their legs and licking the boots of their oppressors. It should have tamed her, make her see that she was fortunate to be a Shurajo, a clan that did not exist on the lowest rungs of society like most of the others. However, it only made her blood boil more and her already low view of her elder clansmen soured further. Any love she may have still had for her elders died.

She knew they were cowards. Had known from the first day she realized what they gave up and the violence they meted out to other clans to remain in the tyrants' good graces. However, she never believed that they were incredibly stupid too. Though the clan, by all accounts, were loyal, they were only one mistake away from falling from the heavens and into a pit of hell. And when not if that happened, the ire and rage of the other clans would descend upon them.

However, she could do nothing about it. Even if she wished to rebel, very few would place their trust in her. No matter how convincing, she was a Shurajo, one of their oppressors. Anything she did would be considered nothing more than crafting a beautiful trap for them so that they could descend further into hell.

Fortunately for Miketsu, it was clear that their objective to scare her straight failed. Thus, she could not be confidently placed into the police like so many of her family members. And though some advocated for her immediate termination, the Mizukage found that due to her bloodline, she would be more useful to them out in the field. If she did not wish to take advantage of her fortunes, then she could suffer just like the people she sympathized with. If she died in the process, then even better.

For the next five years, Miketsu lived like a tool. That’s until she met Suzume. The Yuki woman was a breath of fresh air, someone who wanted the system to change like so many but also had the power and backing to do it. Thus, throwing her support behind the woman was natural. She remained in the shadows as she always had, performing tasks under the woman’s orders and sometimes, taking matters into her own hands.

She admired Suzume. Thus, her presence as the woman declared the end of the previous regime was also natural. Admittedly, she did not get to see the moment Suzume defeated the tyrannical Mizukage, but that could be forgiven. After all, she had some house cleaning to take care of before she could comfortably see this glorious moment. She’d watch this awe-inspiring woman bring Kirigakure into an age of glory, and she’d lead what remained of her clan with her.

かがみ龍太郎りゅうたろう

Ryuutarou breathed a sigh of relief when at once the ninja who surrounded him stopped. It was relief that he immediately hated himself for feeling. At once, everyone knew that the battle had been won, and the Jinchuuriki let the wisps of Isobu’s energy that had been wrapped around him depart, falling to his knees with his hands in the air in clear surrender.

He knew it was a losing battle, but he had to fight anyway. He wouldn’t have been worth more than the dirt on the ground if it wasn’t for Lord Mizukage and his gift to him, and the debt he owed him would be for the rest of his life. Secondary to that, he felt, was his fealty to the village.

But now, a pillar of ice was all that remained in the center of the village. Lord Mizukage had lost, there was nothing to fight for.

“I give up.” He said, biting out the words. He allowed himself to be restrained and taken by the jonin he’d just been fighting and slowly losing to. He wasn’t angry nor was he sad. Another shackle placed on his life had been removed. His debt, while not paid, was forgiven in the Mizukage’s death, and maybe time would tell if he could continue his service to another, or if this Mizukage would be worse than the last and put him on the stake.

Joshua watched the events as they played out from a nearby rooftop, chewing on a piece of grass as he did so, his sword resting against his right shoulder. He wish he could've done something to help diffuse the situation but with his level of power, he had no means of stopping someone as strong as a Kage. Thankfully, someone did interfere but sadly the events ended as they usually do in the Mist, with someone dead on the ground. Surprisingly, it was the woman who had interfered that ended up the victor of this brief bout. Unsurprisingly and following Blood Mist traditions, she took on the mantle of Kage within seconds. He sighed as she announced she would be getting rid of Blood Mist Traditions, causing him to raise an eyebrow in surprise. When her next words came out, he sighed before calling out.
"Miss Yuki, a question if you will." He called out from his perch. Assuming she turned her attention to him, he would continue. "While it nice and well of you to get rid of the rotten bastard and plan on getting rid of the traditions that have terrified and bound this village for generations, might I ask how you plan on getting rid of them? Even if your purpose if pure, if the methods don't line up, people might not think of you the way you might want them too.

This is by no means a question against you. I am simply curious as to how you actually plan on leading the village. After all, it will do us no good to trade in one tyrant for another, do you not agree?

Screams echoed across the otherwise silent courtyard as one of the smaller buildings in the Ashina compound burned. Several members of the clan stood by on fire watch, making sure the fire didn't spread to other buildings. They made no effort to quell the flames, however, as they were intentional. One reason was because the old guard of the family, stuck to the outdated ideas of the clam, were being purged with the building. The second would symbolize to the city that the Ashina Clan was purifying itself of a cancer with fire, the smoke broadcasting this message to all. But one member of the old leadership remained. Wabisuke Ashina lay belly down on the cold stone bricks, forced to watch the purge by his 3 son's and 2 daughters, all sick of the old man's opulence.

"Think they deserved this? I mean, sure, they were all shit. But burning to death? That's a bit much." Asashi stared at the rising smoke from the rooftop outside his room. As he watched in a daze, he mindlessly ran a kunai over a whetstone, going through the motions as his attention was focused elsewhere. "It's a death I wouldn't wish on anyone."

"They deserved it. Through negligence, they became fat and weak, unable to defend themselves from shinobi who were by all means supposed to be beneath them." Kyoujiro watched the smoke with her brother, trying to ignore his poor sharpening etiquette. She failed. "You're over sharpening that side."

"Shit." Asashi checked the blade, making sure it would still be stable as it flew. Luckily, it was fine.

"I'm going back inside. The screaming is giving me a headache, and the smoke isn't helping. Are you coming? Or..."

"Nah, I'm good. I'll let you know if things actually get interesting." As his sister shrugged and left him alone on the rooftop, he leaned forward. A piece of the old styled roof collapsed, putting an end to some of the screaming. It took the sounds of commotion from town to draw his attention away from the blaze. "What the hells going on there?"

Mizuchi Hozuki would be eating with his family at the Hozuki estate, he looked towards the front doot as he heard screaming and wails about the Mizukage, his face showed concern as he quickly finishes eating, re-applying his wrappings to hide his scars as he looks to the others of his clan.

"Did anyone else hear that?"

as he spoke, some of the other members of the Hozuki clan comes into room, speaking about a masked kunoichi had killed the mizukage and used ice jutsu and swordsmanship to do so. Mizuchi sighs as he knew what the kind of element well as he starts getting up, now unsure as what his next move should be as the elder of the Hozuki clan would have to worry about that.

"So.... a Yuki brought the Mizukage's death to take his place, i feel a storm is coming and snow is the leading sign of it."
